With her first solo show "Genuflexion," Hannah Polskin pays respect to the meditative practice of painting. Genuflexion, the act of bending one or both knees to the ground as a gesture of deep respect for a superior, aptly describes her painting process. The calming ritual behind these abstracts benefits the viewer; the simple colors quiet the mind, the wood makes you feel grounded, the fluid shapes evoke a sense of flow. Kneeling and crouching around large wood panels to create art is Polskin's personal form of prayer.
